Passport Portraits
A personal project where I invited people to send me their passport photos for me to draw. The idea was that this would act as an equaliser, removing the element of choice in the photos people submitted and providing a standardised format for all of the portraits.
Many of us don't like our passport photos and wouldn't use them as the basis for a portrait, but for this reason each one provided a tiny, often-unseen snapshot of a person. In total I drew over 40 portraits, all of which are drawn in brush and ink.
